Healthy At Every Size
Are you tired of me talking about how diets don’t work yet? Yes I know you diet you lose weight, BAM. It works right? But what if you are already healthy at your size right now?
What happens when you stop the diet?
What happens when you stop denying yourself foods that you once loved? When I dieted I lost friends and fun. I could not go out to dinners. I could not go hang out in social situations, because there was food and drink there that I could not have because I was on a diet.
Are you avoiding fun and friends?
Do you have to bring your own food to parties and socIal events? Are you worried what will happen to your body if you eat something not on your diet? I have had people tell me they cannot alter from their diet because their mood, energy, and mind will be slow and lethargic. OK so you are what you eat. This is SO TRUE!
But will one FREAKING bowl of chips cause you to have a terrible day? No way! That is the fear with diets. We fear a food or a food group all together. We lose confidence in our ability to feed ourselves. You worry you will not be able to stop eating.
You can eat what you want, you can eat for health, and you can respect your body. You can take care of yourself. Your body can take care of you. When you learn to listen to your body you learn to:
– feed it nutritious foods.
– you learn to stop eating when full
– you learn to eat when hungry
– you learn to eat foods you crave
– you learn to move your body so it is healthy and active
Here is what I want you to do today. I want to commit to the following 6 things for today. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. For now…
Raise your Right Hand, and repeat after me.
Today I will try to feed myself when I am hungry.
Today I will try to be attentive to how foods taste and make me feel.
Today, I will try to choose foods that I like and that make me feel good.
Today, I will try to honor my body’s signals of fullness.
Today, I will try to find an enjoyable way to move my body.
Today, I will try to look kindly at my body and to treat it with love and respect.
