What You And Slime Have In Common

Have you made slime? If not you may be living under a rock. This slime thing is a big deal right now. #gross. #fun, #slime – Sorry I am trying to be like all the cool kids. I digress…I am not calling you slimy, but …

You and slime have some things in common.

Slime is made of some totally random ingredients. Last week in the Teen Girls Night Out Group, we made slime. Apparently slime is made of random household supplies. You could make a sweep of the house and find the ingredients to make this interesting fun toy. You combine these random items and BAM you have this slimy, sticky, goopy blob of fun!

Slime, although made of some totally weird and random ingredients, makes something really fun and cool. The girls had a blast making and playing with slime last week in group. So how does this activity help with building self-esteem?

I am so glad you asked!

You are like slime in the following ways:

  • you have random quirks

  • you have some totally unique characteristics

  • Separately you may feel like these quirks are weird, shameful, or embarrassing

You don’t often talk about these quirks and differences.

You are worried you will be judged and criticized for these random things that make you, YOU. You are worried your friends will make fun of you. You are afraid you will be laughed at or bullied. But here is the thing, you would not be you without these unique characteristics. Yeah alone, they seem kinda random and odd, but combined your quirks make something, that something is you, really COOL, AWESOME, and FUN.

No one is sitting at home playing with shaving cream, but combined with some other random items you can build something really fun and really cool. You may feel that your hobby alone does not make you interesting, but if you combine that hobby with all your other qualities, likes, and values, you get a person that is very interesting and unique. You get a person capable of love, happiness, and success.

Your quirks are what make you AWESOME.

So let’s embrace your quirks. List the random things that make you, YOU.

  • What are your hobbies?

  • What are your unique talents or skills?

  • What makes you different?

  • What are you ashamed to admit?

Write these things down and then realize these are things that make you unique, fun, and interesting.

How are you planning on embracing your quirks today? Share below. Let’s all celebrate our quirks and differences.
