You see wellness around a lot these days. Generally wellness is associated with physical health, working out, and eating well. This is a piece of wellness. But wellness actually means a lot more then living a healthy life.

Wellness is a holistic model that considers you play a role in your environment. You have thoughts, emotions, relationships, and hopes and dreams. You are able to make choices and you evaluate

your happiness and success based on your accomplishments. Wellness means you have awareness and balance in different areas of your life. The different areas of wellness are: emotional, mental, physical, social, and spiritual.

However bad things can happen in life. Traumatic and upsetting events in your childhood, your relationships, or your daily interactions can throw off the balance in your life.

These experiences can negatively impact your thinking, your emotions, your relationships, your confidence, and your ability to feel successful. These experiences impact your ability to experience wellness and happiness in your life.

Emotions come and go. Some emotions seem overwhelming and out of control. I can provide you support to acknowledge and accept emotions and help you learn ways to handle emotions in a healthy way.

Traumatic and upsetting events in your life impact your emotional wellness. You may feel:

  • shame and guilt

  • depressed

  • anxious, fearful and worried

  • angry

  • numb.

  • frustrated and easily overwhelmed

  • worried something bad is going to happen to you or your loved ones

Your thoughts and the quality of your thinking will determine your mood. Situations, circumstances, beliefs, and upset feelings can cause negative thinking. Changing your thinking can help improve your overall wellness.

When bad things happen your mental wellness will be challenged. Your thoughts can consist of:

  • low self-esteem

  • self-doubt

  • negative thinking

  • distrust of others

  • hopelessness

  • you are not worthy or good enough

Upset thinking and emotions can negatively impact your physical health. Your body is designed to protect you from danger and harm. However, if the body stays in a constant state of stress, the body will start to break down. I will help you learn how to relax your body and improve your physical health.

Having upset thoughts and emotions will cause your body to feel tense, heavy, tired, and ill. Your physical wellness becomes impacted because decreased emotional and mental wellness causes your health to be compromised.

  • changes in sleep and appetite

  • increased illness

  • body feels tense, heavy, tired, and ill

  • increased visits to your doctor or emergency room

When you do not think well or feel well emotionally and physically your relationships will struggle. Social wellness means seeking to have happy, pleasant, and loving relationships with others.

You may find you have decreased social wellness:

  • increased isolation and withdrawal

  • lack of motivation

  • decreased interest in hobbies or activities

  • increased fighting with loved ones

 

You have a higher purpose. You were meant to do great things. Bad experiences, upset thinking and emotions, relationship conflict, and poor health can cause you to lose sight of your greater purpose. I will help you identify goals and develop a plan to pursue your passions in life.

Lastly, your spiritual wellness is challenged by the events and experiences in your life that cause you upset.

  • hopelessness and helplessness

  • lost motivation make changes or pursue your hopes and dreams

  • questioning the purpose of life

  • anger toward God or your Higher Power

There is hope. You can overcome these bad experiences. You can feel happier, think better, relate better with others, live healthier, and pursue your dreams. I can help you find balance in your life and feel better physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and socially. The bad things you experienced do not have to control your life. You can take control and gain the confidence you need to live well.
