Rebel and Break The Rules

If you follow me on Facebook…Hey speaking of Facebook you can find my page here. Sorry I am like a Golden Retriever and easily distracted by other things. Let’s get back to it, shall we. If you follow me on Facebook you know I talk A LOT about diets. I do not support diets. WHY? Because I hate rules. I am a rebel. Wanna be a rebel with me and break some rules?

Here is why you should break the diet rules.

Are Diets Bad?

This is not an easy Yes or No Answer. I want you to be healthy. I want you to be happy. I want you to live long and prosperous. I know that when you start a diet you feel good. You feel confident, happy, and thrilled that you start losing weight. You may find you have improved health. But eventually you stop the diet, then you gain weight, and you feel like a total effing failure. You feel like you screwed up. You actually doubt and hate yourself because you cannot stay disciplined and motivated.

Health is important!

Health is more than weight and body size. Health is about your mental and emotional health. Did you know there is a research study that suggested that people gained weight because they experienced shame? The research participants did not gain weight and have increase health issues because of their diet or their weight, they did because they felt shame. When we feel bad, our bodies produce hormones and chemicals that make weight loss difficult. These hormones can affect other chemicals in the body that affect how your heart works, how you metabolize food, and how your brain functions. Health is impacted because of mental health, not because of weight or diet. The problem with diets are the rules.

You can live a healthy life and not diet.

Here is how.

  1. Remember diets don’t work. Sure you start a diet and lose weight, but what happens when you stop dieting? You gain weight.

  2. Remember every body is different. What works for me is not going to work for you. Therefore if you have an online coach telling you to eat a certain way you should stop paying that coach. You want someone who knows your unique body and needs. Following a diet plan does not consider your unique nutritional needs.

  3. Stay balanced. Diets cause you to get out of balance. Diets teach you what is good and what is bad and what you can and cannot eat.

  4. Eat what you want. Healthy eating IS OK, but so is “unhealthy” eating. I am not prompting eating McDonald’s all day every day, but I do want you to eat what you want, when you want. I want you to eat what makes you feel good.

  5. Have fun! Diets cause you to stop enjoying food and experiences because you are too worried about the dieting rules.

Today Break a diet rule.

Eat what you want. Eating a food you want to eat is not going to make you “bad”. It is not going to make you a failure. It isn’t going to cause you to ruin your health.

Here is what I want you to do. Comment below with how are you breaking a dieting rule today? How are you going to rebel?
