Therapy seems mysterious, particularly for individuals that have never been in therapy. TV, movies, and media portray therapist as either distrustful and morally inept individuals or as arrogant and “all knowing”. In fact, most therapist are trustful, kind, and compassionate. I am often asked, “are you analyzing me?” Therapist do not spend their time “analyzing people”. Therapist are trained observers of human behavior and are available to help sort through issues, upsets, and conflicts in life.
