The Power of Positive Affirmations: Exploring My Favorites
The idea is to practice saying these every single day. Print this out. Write these on post-it notes and place in areas where you will see the statement often. Then when you see it, stop for just a moment, and read the phrase. The idea is to read each word and really let the word and the phrase sink in. Speaking the words out loud can shif the brain from a negative place to a more calm and helpful place.
You may not believe these statements at first, this is totally normal and totally OK. The more you say them, the more you will start to believe them.
Another way to use affirmations is to practice them as a part of meditation. Find a quiet and comfortable spot, you want a place with no distractions. Sit or lie comfortably. Take a deep breath in through your nose (count to 3) then exhale with your mouth (count to 3). Do that again, breath in with your nose for 1, 2, 3, and out with your mouth for 1, 2, 3. One more time in 1, 2, 3, and out 1, 2, 3. Now as you breathe in close your eyes, and continue to focus on your breath. Lie or sit comfortably, focusing on your breath for just a moment and allow your body to relax. Now read these words and speak the words out loud.
