It is really hard to be a teenage girl these days. Your young lady faces a lot of challenges from her peers, society, school, and herself. 💔 I believe you are a very attentive and supportive parent, but your teen still sees these challenges as a barrier to loving herself.

Your child may be doing really well in school. 📚 She may be thriving. She may even be popular and sociable. Yet, she still sees peers every single day that, in her mind, are better than she is. This constant comparison and her high expectations wear on her self-esteem. 😔

Your teen may be struggling to love and accept herself. 💭 This can look like mood swings, high stress, worry, and isolation. Does your teenage girl want to spend time alone? Is she easily frustrated and overwhelmed? Do you notice her trying hard to be perfect?

Expectations, stress, and teenage hormones can negatively impact how she sees herself. 🧠 High expectations and perfectionism often turn into feelings of not being “good enough” or “failing.” The pressure to maintain an image overwhelms teenagers. They may lose sleep and miss moments of joy because they're consumed with negative thoughts. 😣

Your teenage girl may be angry and argumentative—or she might feel sad and spend a lot of time alone in her room. Pressures from self, home, school, and peers frustrate your child. 😠 Your child is seeking to find herself and wants to be unique, yet the fear of being different keeps her trying to fit in. You may see her lash out in anger, yelling or acting resistant, when what she really wants is to find her voice.

There are many sources telling your teen how she should look and behave—and they’re not always positive influences. 📲💄 I see so many girls who tell me they feel “fat.” I even hear girls as young as 9 saying they are dieting. Many girls yearn for a “thigh gap” or “six-pack abs.” This pressure to look perfect is unattainable, leading them to believe they’re “ugly,” “fat,” “stupid,” or “gross.” 💔

Your child may be suffering in silence. How your teen feels about herself affects her behaviors. 😟 What if there were a safe place where your teenage girl could learn to love her body, appreciate her qualities, and build positive peer relationships? A place where she could learn to express her feelings, improve communication, and gain confidence? If this sounds like what your teen needs, you’re not alone—and we can help. 🤝💗
